What's New in Massachusetts Health Care

    CHIA has released its latest interactive dashboard on skilled nursing facilities operating in Massachusetts. 

    This centralized dashboard includes industry- and facility-level metrics with other relevant information to increase transparency of financial performance and quality.

     

     

  • Summary results from the 2025 Massachusetts Health Insurance Survey (MHIS) show that 97.9% of residents reported having health insurance at the time of the survey, though more than a quarter of residents skipped needed care due to cost.

     

     

     

  • CHIA’s research brief, Burdened by the Bill: Understanding Medical Debt in Massachusetts, finds that more than 1 in 8 Massachusetts residents carries family medical debt, most often caused by cost-sharing.

     

     

  • CHIA issued emergency assessment regulations on January 16, 2026. A remote public hearing for the new assessment regulations will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:00 am.
